Missions are unlocked for Citizens, the idle gameplay feature of Evrloot, where they gather resources in order to be used in Crafting & Professions.
Like Warborn Contracts, Missions run in real-time, making your Citizen unavailable for other tasks while they travel and work.

Each time a Citizen completes a mission, they gain experience in that specific mission.
As experience accumulates, your Citizen becomes more specialized, increasing the chances of looting more resources and rare items (Magic Find). With each new rank, your Citizen's effectiveness in that mission grows.
Certain ranks also unlock longer-lasting missions, leading to greater resource rewards, rare drops, and other benefits.
Mission durations range from Short (30min) to Very Long (48h), each yielding specific resources based on the mission type. You can also get lucky with rare and epic resources, which are invaluable for Crafting & Professions.
Longer missions result in more basic resources and experience, so plan your missions wisely. For example, before going to bed, you can send your Citizen on a long 8-hour mission to have a fresh batch of resources waiting for you in the morning.
